The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily to meet their quota of getting free food donated every day to abused and neglected animals. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on the purple box "fund food for animals" for free. This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising. Here's the web site! Please pass it along to people you know.

Tampa Entertainment Links
Best of the Web: Tampa - A nice site with tons of information on Tampa (local news, entertainment, weather, transportation, etc.
The Tampa Historic Theatre - a restored theater in downtown Tampa playing independent films, silent films, and just generally unusual movies.
Salvador Dali Museum - Museum founded by personal friends of Salvador Dali. Large collection of all his types of works, and a really neat gift shop too. Also, they have special events in or around the museum. Admission is free to USF students, but the special events may have a charge.
Skipper's Smokehouse - Skippers celebrates over 25 years of music, food, and drink. This is the place our department goes on Friday afternoons to unwind and catch a band or two. Always some interesting group playing in their outdoor stage area, and sometimes special events too!
Historic Ybor City - Ybor is a city right next to down town Tampa. On Fridays and Saturdays they close off 7th ave, and the clubs and bars lining the streets get jumping. a really great place to people watch. If you get there before 10pm, parking is cheaper, and most clubs do not have a cover charge.
City of Tarpon Springs - The largest Greek community outside of Greece is located in Tarpon Springs. The old sponge docks contain many shops and information about the city's heritage. The Greek food is second to none, and in large portions!
Fort Desoto Park - An entire island converted into a park at the entrance of Tampa Bay. Enjoy the fine beaches, fishing, nature trails, camping, boating, exploring the old fort, and much more. It has a rich history and many events throughout the year. Rated as the number 1 beach in America last year!!
Lettuce Lake Park - Located off Fletcher, this lovely little park offers 3,500ft of boardwalk that is perfect for rollerblading, jogging, or walking your dog. There are also nature trails and an observation tower overlooking the Hillsborough River. Get there by heading east on Fletcher from campus and turn left at the park entrance.
Flatwoods Park - Flatwoods park is a bit larger and offers a 7-mile paved loop to bike, jog, or rollerblade around. They have water stations set up along the way, so you don't even need to bring water with you! The park also has some off-road trails that can be a bit bumpy, but very beautiful. I've always seen many animals whenever I go there - deer, armadillos, gators, ibis, etc. There are 2 entrances, one north on Bruce B. Downs and the other off Morris Bridge Road (go east on Fletcher and it turns into Morris Bridge Rd. From campus, it is about 12 miles away).

Tampa Food Links
Mr. Dunderbak's - Located in the University Mall (ok, that's a little strange), Mr. Dunderbak's has about 200 different types of beer available from all over the world, some of the best sandwiches known to man, and a fine European meat and cheese deli if you want to take some home! Why it is located in a mall, I have no idea.
Skipper's Smokehouse - Skippers celebrates over 25 years of music, food, and drink. This is the place our department goes on Friday afternoons to unwind and catch a band or two. A lot of seafood specials and almost everything is deep fried. Located on the corner of Skipper Road and Nebraska, in Tampa.
Trang Viet Cuisine - No website, but I added a review page if you want some opinions. A favorite of many in the biology department who crave good Asian food. Trang's boasts a ginormous vegetarian menu and many of the vegetables are actually picked fresh from the owner's gardens. Located at 1524 E Fowler Ave, in Tampa.
Angithi Indian Cuisine - No website, but it is close to campus and has some good authentic Indian food. Located at 2047 E Fowler Ave, in Tampa.
Tijuana Flats - a sassy, saucy place to get your burrito fix. It's the perfect place to go grab a quick lunch in between teaching/research/slacking off. They have about 100 different kinds of hot sauce if you like to live dangerously. Located right next to campus at 2782B E. Fowler Ave, in Tampa.
Jerk Hut - The coolest little Jamaican restaurant with the best jerk chicken ever! Only 2 locations and both are in Tampa! 1406 E Fowler Ave, in Tampa is the one close to campus and 207 E Twiggs St, in downtown Tampa is the main one. On Fridays, the downtown location has live reggae!
La Cocina Latin Cafe - La Cocina has some great Cuban food. Sometimes they also have live music to entertain you. Located at 2716 E Fowler Ave, in Tampa.
Louie Pappas - Awesome Greek food! The prices aren't bad and they have a nice selection of food. Located at 14913 Bruce B. Downs (just north of Fletcher)
McAllister's Deli - located off 30th St / Bruce B. Downs (go south from Fowler Ave), McAllister's has ginormous potatoes and iced teas. They have a pretty good selection of sandwiches and the vegetarian chili isn't bad either!
Moe's Southwest Grill - Yummy burritos, good music, and queso that can't be beat. And don't forget the signature, "Welcome to Moe's"!! Located north on Bruce B. Downs right next to a Coldstone Creamery....
Maggie Moo's - Ok, it's not really lunch or dinner, but Maggie Moo's has some pretty freakin' delightful ice cream. They have a variety of different flavors and "mix-ins" that will make you dance. Ok, maybe I'm the only one that dances, but it's good! Located north of campus off Bruce B. Downs right before you get to interstate 275.
Panera - Good sandwiches and great bread! Located right next to campus ( west side).

Other places to go nearby:
West of campus down Fowler there are a bunch of places: Chilis, Panera, Jason's Deli, Pho Quyen, Bennigans, TGI Friday's, KFC, and Steak and Shake, Tia's Tex Mex, Jimmy John's, and Sonics
East of campus down Fowler you can find Pita Republic (good veggie selection), Applebees, Boston Market, Burger King, McDonalds, Wendy's, Taco Bell, Chik-fil-A, CDB Italian Restaurant, Carrabba's Italian Grill, and Arby's
North of campus up Bruce B. Downs you can find Olive Garden, Macaroni Grill, Stonewood Tavern & Grill, Red Lobster, Circle's New Tampa Bistro, Ciccio and Toni's Pastaria
