The College of Public Health and USF Health purchased 1400 flu shots to destributed to community on October 19, 2007. We collaborated with several other USF Health organizations. The infectious disease association had an information table about the importance good handwashing and proper coughing and sneezing techniques. IDA members helped the members of the community fill out flu shot forms and answered questions regarding influenza vaccinations.

Infectious Disease Association travels around the Tampa Bay area to promote wellness. IDA gives information on nutrition and the importance of not spreding contagion. We provide the public with information to prevent the transmission of disease by showing handwashing techniques, coughing into your arm verses your hands, the importance of insect repellent, and completing prescribed medication.

At the end of the year we like to get together one last time for good barbeque and fun! We play pin the tail on the Salmonella and present awards and enjoy some fun in the sun!

The College of Public Health was honored a few years ago by the visits of former Surgeon General Jocelyn Elders and current Surgeon General David Satcher. This was an excellent opportunity for the students and faculty to share ideas and learn from these eminent Public Health professionals.
