The Vision of the Multicultural Community is to create a diverse, yet extremely cohesive coalition of multicultural student organizations that fosters cross-cultural and inter-organizational interaction and enhances the development of the participating organizations.
MISSION
The mission of the Multicultural Community is to broaden the scope of multicultural activities to include non-traditional cultural groups, promote organizational teambuilding, build meaningful cross-cultural programming partnerships, and to provide better service to students interested and involved in multicultural student organizations.
METHOD
Multicultural student organizations participating in the Multicultural Community are required to regularly participate in the multicultural training programs, events, committees, and retreats that the Office of Multicultural Activities plans, implements, and oversees.
Who can join the MCC?
The Multicultural Community is open to
all registered student organizations at the University
of South Florida
who identify themselves as multicultural student organizations.
Organizations that are classified as academic, professional,
cultural, international, religious, service or special interest
may join the Multicultural Community. Although the Office
of Multicultural Activities recognizes that some Greek-lettered
organizations may be multicultural, we do not yet have the resources
to support these organizations. Therefore, it is requested
that these organizations continue to receive support from the
Office of Greek Life and do not apply for Multicultural Community
membership. These groups, however, are welcomed and strongly
encouraged to participate in all of the training programs, events,
and committees sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Activities.
To join the Multicultural Community, please review the entire Multicultural Community Handbook with your executive board officers. Then, complete the Multicultural Community Application, submit an electronic copy and return a hard copy to the Office of Multicultural Activities in the Phyllis P. Marshall Center room 254. You are now ready to begin your journey engaging “…in meaningful social and educational relationships.”
In addition, any Multicultural Community organization that submits their application packet (both electronic and paper copy) by Wednesday, September 7, 2005 will receive an additional 100 points.
The Multicultural Community Institute is designed to help organizations provide better service to students interested and involved in their respective organizations. Each institute will address a specific leadership topic that will empower organizations to fulfill their purpose and function more effectively and efficiently.
