South Atlantic Karate Association

The South Atlantic Karate Association (SAKA) is a regional
organization of the International Shotokan Karate Federation
(ISKF). Shigeru
Takashina, a 7th degree black belt, is the Chief Instructor of SAKA
and completed the Instructor School of the Japan Karate Association
(JKA) in Tokyo, Japan in 1968. A graduate of
Ryukoku University in Kyoto, Japan, Master Takashina was the captain
of the winning team in the First World Karate Championship in Tokyo.
Since coming to the United States in 1972, Master Takashina has
coached the USA team five times, scoring perfect wins at the 1987 and
1989 International Competitions. In his capacity of Chief Instructor
of SAKA, Sensei Takashina supervises all ISKF karate clubs located in
Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina which include
over 20 clubs and approximately 2,500 students.
