About USF Water Polo
USF Water Polo is a United States Water Polo registered water polo club team. The team has an affiliation with the University of South Florida however players are not required to be students of the University.
Coaches
The USF Water Polo team is led by volunteer coaches Nick Popa and Rush Taylor. Nick Popa played water polo at Ohio State University and formerly coached Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, Florida. Rush Taylor played polo at Washington University and is currently a member of United States Eastern National Waterpolo Team.
Tournaments
USF Waterpolo competes in various tournaments during the year. Membership in USWP is required to play in tournaments. A one year membership costs $45 and a 4 month trial membership costs $20. More information about USWP can be found at www.usawaterpolo.com. USF Water Polo also participates in scrimmage games against other teams. Membership in USWP is not required for scrimmages.
Expenses
USF Water Polo requests a $40 donation by each of its players per semester. The $40 will be used towards the purchase of balls, caps, pool fees, team USWP registration, and other items as needed by the team. Donations for the fall semester are due Oct 1, 2002 and for the spring semester on February 1, 2003. Please make your check out to “Water Polo Club at USF" and give your check to team Treasurer, Jaime Danisment or to Mike Wright. If you can not meet the due date, please see Jaime about paying on a monthly basis.
Communication
USF Water Polo uses email to keep members up to date on the latest tournaments and social events. If you wish to be part of the email group please give Allan Edwards you email address (or email him at allan23@aol.com) and he will add you to the list.
Swimsuits
Team suits are not required but they are available through Truwest. The suits are green with “USF Polo” embroidered in yellow. For more information, go to www.truwest.com or call (800) 322-3669 and tell them you are with USF Waterpolo.
