A Club Sport at the University of South Florida The Women's Rugby Football Club at the University of South Florida was created in 2002 to serve as the primary rugby club for women of the USF area and to promote USF in regional, national and international games. As a registered USF student organization, the club receives some support from Student Activities. We are allowed to use USF fields and facilities to meet and practice, student governments supports us with a small budget for necessities each year, and certain services are available to us. Also, as a club team, we do not have cuts; if you come out to practices and show up for games you will play.
A Registered Women's/Collegiate Club with USA Rugby As a registered team with USA Rugby we fall under the jurisdiction of the Florida Rugby Union (FRU). FRU schedules our official matches; however, we can schedule any additional matches we want to play for practice or fun (called friendlies). We play in the women's collegiate division; playing other collage teams from Florida and other southern states. In both the Fall and Spring seasons there are tournaments and State Cup games. Because we are part of USA Rugby, each player must be registered to be able to participate in games. The registration (CIPP) process can be completed at USA Rugby's website. |
